Aconitum lamarckii
Yellow Monkshood |
USDA Zone: 2-9 |
Plant number: 1.015.150
(=A. pyrenaicum) A cousin to the more familiar Blue Monkshood, this is not commonly seen in gardens. Plants form an upright clump of deeply-cut green leaves, bearing spikes of soft creamy-yellow flowers in mid-summer. May need staking in early summer. An outstanding cut flower. Plants prefer a site that will not dry out, away from thirsty tree roots. In hot summer areas this will need protection from afternoon sun. Easily divided every 3 to 4 years, in early spring. CAUTION: toxic if eaten/harmful via skin.
