Saxifraga paniculata

Encrusted Saxifrage

USDA Zone: 3-9

Plant number: 1.475.050

Also known as Rockfoil, this is a low alpine plant, forming small rosettes of evergreen leaves in a cushion shape, a little like Hen-and-chicks. Taller sprays of tiny white flowers appear in late spring. Best in a partly-shaded rock garden, and especially happy when growing in crevices between rocks. Nice also in trough or container gardens. This is a true alpine plant, rather slow-growing but not difficult. Clumps may be carefully divided in late summer or early spring. Best with protection from hot afternoon sun.
