Hosta ‘Vulcan’

Hosta

USDA Zone: 2-9

Plant number: 1.700.790

Hosta are among the most popular of perennials for shady areas, with hundreds of varieties now readily available. They form sturdy mounds of foliage topped with lily-like blooms. This medium to large selection has broad, heart-shaped leaves with white centres, dark green margins and light yellow jetting in between. Pale lavender flowers appear in mid to late summer. Suitable for planting in mixed containers or tubs. Hosta go completely dormant in the fall, and the dying foliage can be removed any time before mid spring. Easily divided in either spring or fall, but plants may be left alone for years. A sport of ‘Captain Kirk', bred by Hans Hansen and introduced by Walters Gardens Inc. of Michigan.
