Hosta ‘Ivory Coast’

Hosta

USDA Zone: 2-9

Plant number: 1.710.290

Hosta are among the most popular of perennials for shady areas, with hundreds of varieties now readily available. Plants form a sturdy mound of foliage, topped with lily-like blooms. This selection is a smaller sport of H. ‘Sagae’ with wider leaf margins. Leaves are broad, grey-green with rippled yellow margins. The centre of the leaves darken to blue-green and the edge lightens to ivory in summer. Lavender flowers early summer. Striking specimen plant. Hosta go completely dormant in the fall, and the dying foliage can be removed any time before mid spring. Easily divided in either spring or fall, but plants may be left alone for years.
