Cimicifuga simplex ‘Black Negligee’

Black Bugbane

USDA Zone: 3-9

Plant number: 1.153.120

(=Actaea simplex) Bugbanes are late-season blooming perennials, generally planted in rich moist woodland situations. This is an exceptionally good selection, one of the blackest forms to date. Arching wands or spikes of fragrant pink-tinged white flowers rise above the clump in mid fall. A striking specimen! Best with bright shade or direct sun, but soil must stay evenly moist. Plants will take about three years to develop into a mature clump. Divide carefully in the spring every 5 years or so, if desired.
