A variegated selection of the Black-flowered Sedge, this forms an attractive, low and grassy groundcover, suitable for edging or in the rock garden. Foliage is light green in colour, edged in soft yellow. Small black flowers appear in late spring. Useful in moist to wet soils, this will even tolerate standing water. Best in partial shade. Although evergreen in warm winter climates, minimal persistence of foliage colour occurs unless winter is unusually mild. Royal Horticultural Society lists the correct name of this plant as Carex nigra ‘On-line'.
