Aquilegia ‘Spitfire’

Columbine

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 1.050.630

Columbines have been grown in gardens for centuries, and are among the most popular perennials. Hummingbirds often drop in to sip nectar from the flowers. This selection is a petite hybrid that produces small, orange-red flowers with bright yellow centres and short spurs. They flower May to June in Zone 5 but could be earlier in southern zones. This is an excellent variety for spring containers, at the front of the border or allowed to naturalize in a shady woodland setting. They make an excellent cut flower lasting up to 2 weeks in a vase.
