Delosperma floribundum
Starburst™ Ice Plant |
USDA Zone: 5-9 |
Plant number: 1.173.030
The hardy Ice Plants are native to dry areas in South Africa but are amazingly hardy in North America, provided they are grown in very well-drained soil. This species forms a low mound of succulent, evergreen leaves, bearing small, starry pink flowers with a white center, all summer long. Makes an excellent groundcover for hot, dry slopes, and will tolerate poor sandy soil. Also nice growing in tubs and mixed containers, in the rock garden, or as an edging. A 1998 Plant Select® introduction.
