The star-shaped, indigo blooms have slender, reflexed petals and a lovely sweet fragrance. Blooms summer through early fall. Fluffy seed heads follow blooms, hence its other common name, Old Man’s Beard. Best grown among tall perennials making a superb gap filler for cottage garden planting schemes.
