Baptisia STARLITE PRAIRIEBLUES™

Prairieblues False Indigo

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.095.270

(=x bicolor ‘Starlite’) This is the second hybrid False Indigo selection to be introduced from the Chicago Botanic Garden. It forms a bushy mound of bright-green leaves, bearing long tapering spikes of soft-blue flowers kissed with creamy yellow at the petal base. Plants burst into flower towards late May, lasting for several weeks with nice foliage effect for the remainder of the season. Suited to the middle or back of a sunny border. Green seedpods develop in summer and once ripe these are useful in dried arrangements or for winter effect in the garden. A non-spreading plant that gets large, so allow plenty of space since plants resent being disturbed or moved once established. Long-lived and easy to grow. Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, including summer drought. May well prove to be hardy in Zone 3 or colder. USPP#19971: unlicensed propagation prohibited.
