Astilbe japonica ‘Deutschland’
Japanese Astilbe |
USDA Zone: 3-9 |
Plant number: 1.087.590
Astilbe are a popular choice for shady gardens where they perform well if given a rich, moist soil and regular watering. This compact selection produces a mound of glossy, dark green, narrow, sharply-toothed leaves with creamy-white, pyramidal-shaped plumes appearing in early summer. Seed heads may be removed or left on the plant for winter interest. Beautiful when massed in shade or woodland gardens. Useful as a groundcover for shady areas. Effective by the pond or on stream banks. Excellent in tubs and mixed containers, cottage gardens and for cutting. Fertilize in April and June. May tolerate full sun in cool summer regions.
