Alopecurus pratensis ‘Aureovariegatus’
Golden Meadow Foxtail |
USDA Zone: 3-9 |
Plant number: 8.015.050
Low to medium in size, this grass selection features leaves brightly striped with green and bright yellow. Like most cool-season grasses, this is most effective in spring, particularly when used as a contrast to tulips and other early-flowering plants. Makes an attractive edging, and short enough for the rock garden. Hardy enough to use in tubs or mixed containers. Short tan spikes are not particularly showy and should be removed to prevent seeding. Clumps may be pruned back hard after flowering, to rejuvenate the foliage. Easily divided in fall or early spring.
