Acaena saccaticupula ‘Blue Haze’
New Zealand Burr |
USDA Zone: 6-9 |
Plant number: 1.005.020
New Zealand Burrs are remarkably easy to grow alpines. This variety forms a low mat of steel-blue, ferny leaves. Greenish flowers are produced on short stems in summer, followed by attractive mahogany-red burr-like fruits in the fall. Very eye-catching and attractive beside a sidewalk, in the rock garden, or in mixed containers. Incredibly adaptable to almost any soil condition, they will flourish in the poorest of areas. For a great combination, try underplanting with any of the smaller spring-flowering bulbs. Evergreen in mild winter regions. Worth trying in Zones 4 to 5.
