Ligularia przewalskii ‘Dragon Wings’

Ligularia

USDA Zone: 3-9

Plant number: 1.317.730

Sometimes called Elephant Ears, this is a bold specimen perennial that needs a moist location. It forms a mound of large, elegant, deeply-cut bright green leaves that have a leathery texture. Taller dark purple stems appear in mid to late summer, bearing spikes of golden-yellow daisy flowers. It has an exotic tropical look, so superb at the waterside or in the border, especially when mass planted. Very dramatic as a specimen container plant. Both the flowers and leaves are great for cutting. Clumps may be divided in the spring, every 3 to 4 years if desired. Slugs can be troublesome. In warm summer regions plan to grow this in at least afternoon shade. Introduced by Terra Nova Nurseries of Oregon.
