Gentiana sino-ornata

Showy Chinese Gentian

USDA Zone: 3-9

Plant number: 1.225.400

Also called Autumn Gentian. This is highly treasured for the rich display of flowers in late summer and fall. It forms a trailing mat of fresh green grassy foliage, with big upfacing trumpet-shaped blooms in the most amazing shades of true blue. Requires evenly moist, acidic soil. Moderately easy to grow, but best in a rock garden, gravel scree or alpine trough. Clumps may be easily divided in spring. Give afternoon shade in warm summer regions. Received a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (1993).
