A recent introduction from the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Prairieblues™ series which was selected for its unique flowers. It forms a tall, vase-shaped mound of grey-green foliage, with long spikes of oversized flowers that are initally light lemon over cream that age first to cream and then to light to medium violet producing a two to three-toned colour effect. A complex hybrid developed from the species Baptisia alba, B. australis, B. leucophaea, and B. tinctoria. Developed by Dr. Jim Ault at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, Illinois.
