Allium schoenoprasum ‘Forescate’

Giant-flowered Chives

USDA Zone: 2-9

Plant number: 1.032.200

This is a large-flowered selection of Common Chives. Plants form a low mound of grassy leaves, with rose-purple balls of flowers rising above in late spring. Both the flowers and leaves are edible. Also nice as a cut flower, fresh or dried. Makes a very attractive border plant. Also useful in mixed containers, and in the herb garden. Attractive to butterflies. Clumps are easily divided in spring or fall. Flowers should be deadheaded to prevent self seeding, as the resulting plants will revert to regular chives. Drought tolerant, once established.
