Kniphofia ‘Pencil Orange’

Torchlily

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 1.300.470

Torchlilies are easy to grow in the garden, so long as the soil is well-drained, especially in winter. They do however require plenty of water during the growing season. They grow mainly in the mountains and upland grasslands of South Africa although there are also some species native to Ethiopia, Madagascar and Arabia. This is a more compact selection, forming clumps of grassy green leaves that remain evergreen in milder regions. Taller stems in summer hold narrow spikes of flowers in bright orange which matures to amber. Wonderful for the smaller garden. Attractive to hummingbirds and terrific for cutting. Introduced by New World Plants.
