Here's the complete description for this Heritage Perennial. Drop in any time to see the rest of our collection.

 Plant Number: 1.255.050USDA Zone: 2 - 9
Heliopsis helianthoides Summer Sun
Common name :  False Sunflower
(=‘Sommersonne’) False Sunflowers are reliable for their very long season of bloom. Plants form a tall, bushy clump of dark green leaves, bearing branching heads of large golden-yellow daisy flowers, semi-double in this selection. Outstanding cut flowers. Removing faded flowers regularly will greatly extend the blooming season. May require staking, particularly when grown in very rich garden soil. Easily divided in early spring. Easy and always rewarding. A selection of one of our native wildflowers. Attractive to butterflies.

What others say about this plant...
False sunflower isn't a true sunflower, but who cares? I treat this perennial (which is also called sunflower heliopsis) like the other sunflowers in my garden and no one is the wiser. It's an upright, clump-forming perennial that blooms up a storm, often for a whopping 12 weeks.; Larry Hodgson, Perennials for Every Purpose
