Aquilegia ‘Red Hobbit’

Columbine

USDA Zone: 2-9

Plant number: 1.050.380

Columbines are now available in a wide range of colours and plant heights. This midsized strain features large blooms held on sturdy stems over lacy green leaves. It has red outer petals with long spurs at the back, surrounding an inner white trumpet or corolla. Excellent for cutting. Since Columbines are relatively short lived, allow some of the plants to go to seed and self sow — seedlings will likely appear in a mixture of different colours. Leaf miners or sawfly may disfigure the leaves around flowering time. Simply trim off the ugly foliage and the plants will grow fresh leaves. Blooms are similar to the older ‘Crimson Star’ selection, but with a shorter habit.
