Carex oshimensis EverColor® ‘Everdi’

Sedge

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 8.090.810

Sedges are grass-like plants, mostly preferring sites with moist, rich soil. This selection from the Evercolor® series forms a compact mound of glossy, green blades. Green flowers are insignificant. A choice plant for edging, as a lawn substitute if planted in a lightly shaded area or in the rock garden. Discovered in a tissue culture laboratory in Ireland in August 2006 by Pat FitzGerald of FitzGerald Nurseries of Kilkenny, Ireland. Mutation of C. ‘Evergold’. If the tips of the leaves get wind-burn over the winter, they may be trimmed with scissors in the spring. This is a well-behaved plant. Clumps may be divided in early spring. Tolerates dry shade with occasional watering. Evergreen. USPP#25086: unlicensed propagation prohibited.
