Dryopteris dilatata ‘Lepidota Cristata’

Lacy Crested Buckler Fern

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 9.030.160

Also known as Broad Wood Fern, this forms a medium-sized clump of deep-green fronds, very finely divided, with a lacy appearance, the stems covered in rusty-brown scales. Plants are clumping in habit, and well suited to use in any moist, shady situation. Also useful in tubs or mixed containers, combining beautifully with other shade-loving plants, such as Hostas or Hellebores. Semi-evergreen in mild winter regions, but the old fronds can be trimmed in spring if they look untidy. Mulch around the plants with dead leaves in the fall, to help conserve moisture in summer.
