Switch Grass was an important component of the Tall-grass Prairie that once covered much of the Great Plains. This selection forms a tall, upright clump of blue-green leaves, bearing airy heads of tiny green flowers in late summer, maturing to red seed heads. Flowers are good for cutting, fresh or dried. Gradually turns golden-yellow in fall, remaining attractive all winter long. Trim back to the ground in early spring. Clumps are easily divided in spring. Drought tolerant once established.
