Silene acaulis

Moss Campion

USDA Zone: 2-9

Plant number: 1.492.050

Growing in high mountain and arctic regions all across the world, this is a tough little cushion or mat-forming perennial for the rock garden, alpine trough or gravel scree. The tiny green leaves make a moss-like evergreen carpet, with tiny little pink star flowers during late spring and summer. Best in a gritty, well-drained soil that is evenly moist. Dislikes summer heat and humidity, usually most successful in regions with cool summers. Not especially drought tolerant.
