Also known as Knawel Cushion. From New Zealand, this recently introduced plant forms a very low and tight cushion or hummock of tiny lime-green leaves, looking for all the world like a woodland moss. Inconspicuous greenish-white flowers appear in late summer. Excellent between flagstones or in alpine troughs. Requires a well-drained sandy or gritty soil. Best in sun. Drought tolerant once established. Remains evergreen where hardy Not a good choice for regions with hot, humid summers. Will tolerate light foot traffic once established. Said to be deer resistant.
