The old-fashioned Pincushion Flowers are popular as cut flowers, blooming throughout the summer, especially in regions with cool nights. Plants form a low mound of green leaves, with upright stems of large lacy blossoms in shades of blue, lavender, lilac and white. Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage more buds to form. Clumps may be divided every 2 to 3 years in early spring. Flowers are attractive to butterflies.
