Rheum ‘Ace of Hearts’

Ornamental Rhubarb

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.453.020

Related to regular old garden rhubarb, the ornamental forms are wonderful for their bold, architectural effect in the border. This selection has large arching spade shaped green leaves with showy beet-red backsides. Bizarre spikes of soft-pink flowers tower overhead in summer. Leaves are completely red in the spring when they first emerge. Plants must have a rich, constantly moist site to perform their best. Clumps may be divided in early spring, but this is seldom necessary. Stems are not edible. CAUTION: Toxic if eaten.
