Eryngium planum ‘Blue Hobbit’

Sea Holly

USDA Zone: 2-9

Plant number: 1.205.220

Sea Holly features open umbels of prickly steel-blue flowers, which are a favourite for cutting, fresh or dried. This unique dwarf strain is ideal for the front of a sunny border or in mixed containers. The short stems produce metallic-blue sprays that remain attractive for weeks. In time plants will spread to form a small patch. Easily divided in early spring. Tolerant of hot, dry sites, and soils high in salts. For drying, pick stems just as the flower clusters open fully, and hang upside down to dry in a warm, dark place. Attractive to butterflies.
