Bergenia ciliata

Fringed Bergenia

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 1.105.350

This species of Bergenia is very unique and much sought after by collectors. The large, rounded leaves are covered on both sides with soft, downy hairs. Short spikes of light-pink flowers appear in spring, darkening as they age. Unlike most forms, this species is deciduous and will die right back for the winter. Protect from early spring frosts by mulching with leaves in late fall. Clumps are slow to get large, but may be easily divided in early spring. In mild winter regions this makes a superb container plant.
