(Formerly Scrophularia buergeriana) A fast-spreading perennial, forming a patch of very handsome chartreuse-yellow leaves, each striped or streaked with green in the middle. Small spikes of frothy lavender-mauve flowers appear in midsummer. This is best grown with plenty of room to spread, so plan to site this carefully or reduce the patch size each spring. Foliage may be pruned back to 4 inches in summer to rejuvenate if it plants become tired in appearance. Easily increased by dividing in the spring. Nice as a tall groundcover between shrubs.
