Saxifraga × andrewsii

Irish Saxifrage

USDA Zone: 3-9

Plant number: 1.475.010

An easy Saxifrage selection for the rock garden or shade border. It forms rosettes of leathery, toothed leaves, making small offset plants and eventually forming a good-sized mound. Taller red stems in spring hold sprays of small starry white flowers marked with pink freckles. Perfect for growing in crevices, especially in a rock wall. Nice in an alpine trough. Evergreen. A hybrid between S. paniculata and S. hirsuta that comes true from seed. Easiest to increase by dividing after the flowers are finished. Apparently widely used for cemetery planting in France.
