Dryopteris labordei ‘Golden Mist’

Golden Mist Wood Fern

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 9.030.390

This new selection of Asian Wood Fern, the species native to Japan, China and Korea, features beautiful arching, triangular-shaped fronds that are golden-yellow when new, maturing to a glossy, deep green. It is a relative of the Autumn Fern but larger and more open in habit. Evergreen in mild winter regions and excellent for mass planting in moist woodland areas. Plants will tolerate some sun if the site is evenly moist. Old fronds may be trimmed in spring, if they look untidy. Mulch around the plants with dead leaves in the fall to protect from winter winds. Easy to grow. Tends to make its appearance late, usually mid June.
