Delosperma cooperi Table Mountain®
Pink Ice Plant |
USDA Zone: 5-9 |
Plant number: 1.173.150
(=‘John Proffitt’) The hardy Ice Plants are native to South Africa but are amazingly hardy in North America, provided they are grown in very well-drained soil. This selection forms a low carpet or mat of succulent, evergreen leaves, bearing loads of small starry fuchsia-pink flowers from late spring through summer. A great choice for hot, dry areas. Excellent as a groundcover, in the rock garden or wall, for edging, and especially as a lawn substitute. Attractive to butterflies. Where winter drainage is poor, consider growing this as a summer blooming annual. A 2002 Plant Select® introduction.
